A short history

Apples may be one of the oldest fruits in existence, and this can be traced back in most religious passages found in the bible. Many myth creation stories also mention the fruit and commonly associate it with wisdom, temptation, fertility, luck, health, love and beauty. We all have our own preference and the availability of each type varies from one country to the other. Apples originally came from Kazakhstan and Central Asia but today, modern hybrid apples are bred in the United States.

In 1620, apples were introduced to the United States by the English Pilgrims. Since 1741, the apples were then commercially exported to other countries. Since then, there are more than 7,000 varieties of apples that are grown from different parts of the world.

Golden delicious apples were named by the Stark brothers. It has a sweeter taste and thinner skin compared to other types of apples, and gives a firm, crisp and juicy texture. Today, it is one of the most popular snacking apples in the market because of its sweet and strong flavor. It is also great for baking since its firm texture and flavor can hold up well at high temperatures.

Granny Smith apples are green in color, which have balanced flavor between being sweet and sour. What’s good about them is that they are durable enough to remain firm and good in taste even if they sit around in cold storage for hours and are travelled from one place to another. It can even stand up to half a year without even going bad.
